LINDABURY AND CHILDREN’S SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL TEAM UP FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON
|
Lindabury has again teamed up with its client Children’s Specialized Hospital to host a contest that gives the young patients of the Hospital an opportunity to use their creative talent to help design the firm’s holiday card.
Kirstin Waldmann, age 9, of Nutley, N.J., illustrated this year’s card. The drawing was voted the winner by employees of the hospital and the law firm. On December 11, at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, Children’s Specialized Hospital President and CEO Amy B. Mansue and Lindabury partner Edward J. Frisch, presented Kirstin with, an "Ice Skating Bear," as an award for her drawing. The firm and hospital recognized all of the children for their participation.
"We love this program and are very fortunate that the Hospital teams up with us year after year to make it happen," said Mr. Frisch. "It’s a great way to approach the holidays with the achievements of young children in mind."
Submissions for the contest came from several of the hospital’s facilities around the state. Children’s Specialized Hospital is the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in New Jersey. (December 2007)

NEW REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY IN SUMMIT OFFICE
Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper P.C., announced today that Scott A. Terry has joined the firm in its Summit office. Mr. Terry will be a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group and will focus on residential and commercial real estate.
"Scott adds depth to our real estate practice. He also has the talent, experience and prominence in the community to help us expand our Summit presence and continue the growth of the firm. We are very happy to have him on board," said John R. Blasi, President of the firm.
Mr. Terry has more than 20 years of experience as a real estate attorney. He was previously a partner at the law firm of Hartlaub, Dotten & Terry, P.C. in Summit, NJ.
The addition of Mr. Terry to Lindabury’s Summit office continues the expansion of the firm’s practice in Summit. The firm added family law and litigation attorney Frederick D’Arcangelo in December of 2006. The firm established its Summit presence in 2006 with its merger with Cooper, Rose & English. It also has offices in Rumson, New York and Philadelphia.
Scott is a frequent lecturer to local realtors and residents on residential real estate issues. His expertise and professionalism have earned him the positions of past President and Treasurer of the Summit Bar Association. He is the Treasurer and Trustee of two local charitable foundations, and he is active in numerous civic organizations including the Summit Police Athletic League, Summit Elk's Lodge 1246 and the Summit Youth Football Program.
Mr. Terry received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and his law degree from Western New England College School of Law. He is a member of the New Jersey State and Summit Bar Associations. (November 2007)

In a recent large complex case, construction attorney Barry Donohue secured a multi-million dollar arbitration award as lead counsel for a unit of an international engineering conglomerate in its dispute with a major U.S. industrial company. The term "environmental due diligence" is used to collectively describe a process where information is gathered on the property regarding its past usage. Environmental due diligence standards differ in the type of protections that may be afforded and the type of information that is gathered. CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS DISCLOSURE DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR NONPROFITS

The ELEC has just announced that the September 28, 2007, deadline for filing the annual campaign contribution disclosure report for 2006 has been extended until October 30, 2007, for nonprofits. The extension of the deadline is so that the Attorney General can issue a formal ruling as to whether nonprofits will be subject to the disclosure requirements. After this ruling is issued, the ELEC, in consultation with its counsel, will determine whether nonprofits are required to file the report. Prudence dictates that nonprofits be prepared to file. FOR - PROFIT AND NONPROFIT ENTITIES MUST MAKE POLITICAL CONTRIBUTION DISCLOSURES

Lindabury has written a Political Contribution Alert entitled For-Profit and Nonprofit Entities Must Make Political Contribution Disclosures. The New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission is requiring that "business entities" (including nonprofits) that receive $50,000 or more from state and local government contracts must report any political campaign contribution made. In the January 29, 2007 issue of Engineering News Record, one of the construction industry's premier national magazines, the article "New Jersey School Agency Could not Allow Sub Changes" discusses the lawsuit initiated and successfully prosecuted by Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper on behalf of its client, the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Jersey, Inc. This lawsuit was filed against the State of New Jersey and its agency, the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (NJSCC). The suit challenged the practices of the NJSCC, permitting prime contractors who had named statutory subcontractors to substitute those listed subcontractors thereby engaging in prohibited bid shopping.
