JAY LAVROFF NAMED BARRISTER OF THE HUGHES AMERICAN INN OF COURT
Attorney Jay Lavroff was recently named a Barrister of the Richard J. Hughes American Inn of Court. The title recognizes Jay for his "extraordinary professionalism" and "demonstrated trial experience." He will now serve as an instructor at the Inn of Court. KEVIN RUSSELL APPOINTED VICE CHAIR OF DRI COMMITTEE
Attorney Kevin Russell has been appointed Vice Chair of the Fidelity & Surety Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI). The appointment, which is effective October 9, 2004, is for a one-year term. DRI is an international association of lawyers and others concerned with the defense of civil actions. The Fidelity and Surety Committee provides professional information on fidelity and surety law issues to its members through continuing legal education and other member services. (September 2004)

ANTHONY LARUSSO SELECTED FOR UNION COUNTY ETHICS COMMITTEE
Litigation attorney Anthony LaRusso has been selected by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve a four-year term on the District XII (Union County) Ethics Committee. The term begins September 1, 2004. The District Ethics Committee investigates claims of violations of the Rules of Professional Responsibility ("Ethics Rules") against attorneys, and if appropriate, prosecutes the claims through the attorney disciplinary system. Other Lindabury attorneys who have served on the Committee are Richard Width, Jay Lavroff (former Chairman), James McGlew II (former Chairman), John M. Boyle, Paul J. Endler and Catherine Flynn, who is a current member. (August 2004)

ROGER SAUER PUBLISHES ARTICLE ON SURETY'S BANKRUPTCY RIGHTS AND REMEDIES
Fidelity and surety law department head Roger Sauer published an article titled "Bankruptcy Court Sides with Surety and Denies Discharge to Owner of Corporate Principal" for the August 2004 Newsletter of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC). The article discusses an often neglected course of legal redress--resisting the discharge of a principal and indemnitor. Associate Philip Allogramento assisted with the article. MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS GETTING MORE SAY IN TRENTON
Ed Frisch, working on behalf of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Jersey (MCANJ), is helping to shape legislation that will ensure that mechanical contractors are protected and have the ability to compete on any energy savings projects involving schools or local governments. Mr. Frisch testified on June 3, 2004, in opposition to proposed amendments to New Jersey public contract bidding statutes for local level public entities that in the opinion of the MCANJ would have substantially and seriously impacted the ability of mechanical contractors to bid upon and perform work for energy savings projects at public schools and municipalities. Mr. Frisch and the MCANJ were successful in opposing proposed language of the amending statute and are now working with Assemblyman Craig Stanley, the Chairman of the Assembly Education Committee, to ensure that mechanical contractors are protected and have the ability to compete. Ms. Cho is studying at Seton Hall University School of Law and has previously interned for the Honorable Joseph A. Greenaway in New Jersey District Court. ROGER SAUER - NJ EDITOR FOR ABA CONSTRUCTION SURVEY
Litigation attorney Roger P. Sauer was selected as the New Jersey editor of the American Bar Association's forthcoming national survey of trust fund provisions in the law of building construction. MCGREEVEY SIGNS PATIENT SAFETY ACT
On April 27, 2004, Governor McGreevey signed the Patient Safety Act, which will take effect on October 24, 2004. A resident of Mountainside for 22 years, Jim has served in other official capacities for the borough previously, most recently as Assistant Prosecutor. JAMES MCGLEW II - PRESIDENT OF THE UCBA
Attorney James McGlew II was installed as the President of the Union County Bar Association (UCBA) January 2, 2004. Jim succeeds Lindabury attorney Jay Lavroff as the head of the association. BOARD OF ATTORNEY CERTIFICATIONS
The Board of Attorney Certification recently approved the recertification of attorney Anthony J. LaRusso as Civil Trial Attorney. This is Tony's third recertification since his original certification in 1982. The certification is valid for five years. NEW SERVICE MAKES PROBATING A WILL MORE CONVENIENT
Lindabury now uses Factstore's Surrogate Internet System to make probating a will more convenient. For wills filed in Middlesex, Morris and Somerset counties, our attorneys can now spare clients the inconvenience of appearing at the Surrogate Court to probate a will. With one appointment here at the firm, we can now complete applications and transmit them to the court via the Internet. This saves clients the inconvenience of an additional appointment at the court (where appointments must be scheduled between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.). There is a fee for this service, and it only applies to self proving wills (wills that have been notarized). It does not apply to wills when the Executor is out of state.
